DFS
Dress for Success (DFS) Vancouver is a registered Canadian Charity that provides low income women with professional attire, career development tools and a network of support to help women thrive in work and in life. Each Dress for Success client receives a suit for her interviews and a small working wardrobe when she gets her first job. The suits DFS provides symbolize their faith in every woman’s ability to succeed.
The Dress for Success Vancouver Professional Women’s Group program then provides ongoing support to help women build successful careers. Former clients who have successfully gained employment meet monthly for a networking and education program. Monthly meetings focus on subjects such as the “rules of the workplace”, personal finance, communications, and personal health.
Dress for Success Vancouver was founded by Astrid Levelt and opened its doors on February 2, 1999. Supported by over 200 volunteers, a volunteer board of 16 people, and 4 paid staff, over 11,000 women have been helped by the DFS Vancouver programs.
